Websites for Fence and Home-Services Contractors: Calls, Quotes, Photos, and the Licence Number
A contractor’s website has one job: turn the person who found you into a call or a quote request before they go back to the search results. Everything on the page serves that, and anything that does not is in the way.
Fence contractors are the clients we work with most today. The same site works for plumbers, electricians, HVAC, remodelers, landscapers, pool builders and roofers, because the customer’s questions are the same: do you do my kind of job, do you come to my town, can I see your work, are you licensed, and how do I reach you.
What the site has to show
The phone number, everywhere. In the header on every page, clickable on a phone, with the hours you answer. A contractor site that hides the number behind a contact form loses the people who are standing in the yard with a problem.
A quote request that takes a minute. Name, phone, town, what you need, a photo if they have one. Not a form that asks for an email address, a budget and a preferred appointment time before it says thank you.
Photos of the work. Your own, from your own jobs, with the town named. Stock photos of a fence are the first thing a homeowner notices, and the first thing that makes them leave.
The service area. The cities you serve, named, so that someone in Moreno Valley knows you come to Moreno Valley. One page for the area, not a page for every town with the same text; the search engines treat those as spam, and so do readers.
The licence number. California’s licensing board requires it on any website that solicits work, with the penalties that go with leaving it off. We put it in the footer of every page and check the wording of every claim against the board’s advertising rules. It is also the first thing a careful homeowner looks for.
Reviews, with their source. Your Google reviews, shown on the site with a link to the profile, and a page that asks happy customers for one without breaking Google’s rules.
Speed. A homeowner on a phone in the driveway gives a slow page three seconds. Our themes load in under one.
What we do for contractors
Website management: the site, built or taken over, hosted on our managed servers, updated, backed up, secured, changed when you need it, with the licence check on every plan.
Optimization: the Business Profile, the service-area pages that are not doorway pages, the articles that answer what your customers search for, and the reporting that shows what brings calls.
PPC management: Google Ads and Local Services Ads with a landing page built for the call, a stated minimum budget, and a ninety-day decision.
Renting leads or owning them
Angi, Thumbtack and the others sell you the same lead they sell to three other contractors, at a price that goes up when you are busy. A site of your own with a Business Profile and real reviews brings the calls to you alone, and the cost goes down over time rather than up. Our article on whether Angi is worth it shows the arithmetic.
Proof
Fenceworks in Riverside has run on our server since 2021. Casa Valenzuela Construction, fencing and remodeling in Riverside, is a current client. Both are linked from the live sites page, and both are the kind of site this page describes.
