How We Work: The Free Consultation, the Sliding Scale, One New Build a Month
We are a small agency on purpose. One person designs, builds, hosts and answers; an AI engineer consults on the research pipeline and the AI-answers work. That is why our clients stay, and it is why we take one new build a month. Here is how an engagement runs, from the first email.
1. The free consultation
Half an hour, by phone or video, on what your site does today and what it should do. We look at the site before the call, so the half hour is spent on your business, not on us reading your home page aloud. No obligation, no slide deck. If what you need is not what we do, we say so and, where we can, name who does.
2. A written proposal, on a sliding scale
Within a few days you get a proposal in writing: what we would do, in what order, what it costs, and what is not included. The price is a sliding scale. What moves it:
- What the site has to do. A brochure site and a site that books appointments and sells are different amounts of work.
- What exists today. A sound site we can take over costs less than one that has to be rebuilt.
- How much changes each month. The management tiers differ in the hours of changes included.
- How much writing you want. The optimization program is sized by the articles a month.
- How urgent it is. A build that has to be live by a date we cannot reach with the month’s queue is declined, not rushed.
What does not move it: how big we think your business is. The same site costs the same for a one-person studio and a twenty-person firm.
3. One new build a month
We take one new site build a month, and the build gets the month: the research, the design, the writing, the build, the launch. Management clients are never bumped for a new build, and a new build is never squeezed to make room for the next one. If the month is taken, we say when the next one opens.
4. The build
A new site runs in a fixed order: the brief, two design directions on a preview page built from your real copy and your real photographs, your choice, the build, a staging site you can click through, the launch on a day you choose, and thirty days of fixes after it. You see the real thing at every step, not a mock-up.
5. A person who answers
Email answered within one business day. The same person every time, for as long as the site is live. For management clients an urgent problem, a site down or a form broken, is answered the same day. You will never be handed to a ticket queue, because we do not have one; the client portal holds your invoices and your history, and the email goes to a person.
6. What you own
Everything. The domain is registered in your name, the site and its content are yours, and if you ever leave, you leave with a complete copy and the passwords. We put that in the proposal because enough of our clients came to us from the opposite experience.
What we do not do
We do not promise rankings, leads or a position in an AI answer. We do not take work we cannot do well in the time we have. We do not sell what the consultation shows you do not need.
